butterfly life cycle

The life-cycle of a butterfly is an example of metamorphosis (which, witch) means complete change.The metamorphosis of butterflies happened in four stages.


Butterfly eggs are laid on the leaves of plants .These leaves provide food for the second stage of development


The caterpillar emerges from the egg and begins to devour the plant, it grows rapidly and sheds. Outer skin as many four times before it is ready for the chrysalis stage.


After about four weeks  the caterpiller moults one more time before attaching itself to a branch for support it weaves a silken cocoon for protetion and remains dormant untill it is ready for the final chance.


At last the butterfly is ready to emerge, it forces itself out of (its,it’s) silken cocoon, flaps it’s wings and takes to the air.
